Digital Video Recorder (DVR), a recorder electronic device installed in pilot cockpit of a jet fighter, is a modified version of VCR (Video Cassette Recorder) that was initially invented by PT Infoglobal Teknologi Semesta (PT ITS). The device had been tested at 14th Air Skuadron Lanud Iswahyudi Madiun in June 24th 2009, from 07.00 am to 02.00 pm for jet F-5 fighter. Manager of PT ITS Electronic Department, Ajiz Burhanudin, explained that the feasibility test is the progress of collaboration that has been built since 2006 between PT ITS and Dinas Penelitian dan Pengembangan TNI AU (Dislitbangau). “This cooperation has run for long time that was initiated by Dislitbang in 2006 that arranged a research project to replace VCR with DVR in Pontianak. At that time, DVR was installed in Hawk 7”, Ajiz Burhanudin said. Compared with VCR, DVR is more secure and stable when a fighter is maneuvering in the air. In addition, DVR adopted the most advanced technology that it could record audio and video in digital format. Based on this successful implementation, Dislitbangu was interested to implement the device into F-5 type. Thirteen Dislitbangau officers performed the DVR feasibility test by flying four F-5 fighters with DVR installed. The test was running well that met expectation. As a result, officials approved that the DVR deserved to obtain Prototype Certificate from Dinas Keselamatan dan Kerja (Dislambangja). By mid of July 2009, Dislitbangau was planning to have the same feasibility test for F-16 fighter. *** |
