Live from Pangkalan Susu, IMSS Performed in Indodefence 2008

Display System which is a subsystem of Integrated Maritime Surveillance System (IMSS) RI Navy, became part of Indodefence 2008 Exhibition at RI Navy booth. Indodefence 2008 was held on 19 until 22 November 2008, took place at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta.

IMSS RI Navy is a national maritime monitoring system through building several coastal radar stations along current waters territorial. Each coastal radar station is equipped with surveillance equipment such as Radar, AIS (Automatic Identification System) receiver, and Camera. Beside that, to process and display vessel data which are captured by surveillance equipments, some applications are installed at coastal radar station such as radar processor, AIS processor, display system, text message, and data communication to headquarter.

Those data are sent to headquarter and some command centers as the raw material of maritime situation monitoring. Data from several points are integrated into one display, so an integrated national maritime monitoring system would be formed.

IMSS RI Navy was developed by Infoglobal cooperating with Singapore company, Ogusi Pte Ltd, to be installed in RI Navy. This system development is part of Infoglobal commitment to help giving and developing best system solution, especially main system for national defence and security through RI Navy. This system is integrated with other information beside surveillance; for example data from front line operation, sea situation, accident, or insident, and dislocation of on duty troop.

During Indodefence 2008 Exhibition, IMSS RI Navy displayed data captured by coastal radar station which is located at Pangkalan Susu real timely and live. Those data are displayed into Display System which is set during exhibition and operated by one of RI Navy officer. “This is one of RI Navy contribution in Malaka Strait pacification,” stated by Admiral Iwan Kustiyawan, Head of Information and Data Processing Department of RI Navy, who lead the team directly during exhibition.

IMSS RI Navy connects some coastal radar stations in several points. Guskamlabar at Batam, Mako Armada Barat at Jakarta, Mako Kormar at Jakarta, and RI Navy Headquarter Cilangkap Jakarta through high speed VPN/VSAT IP line. (beh)
